Wotalaad Renewal 2025

Wotalaad joined The Racing Emporium as a foal in December 2021, having been born earlier that year on 1st February. He has been a long-term project, but one we’ve always had high hopes for – and he’s now approaching the exciting stage of his racing career.

He’s a beautifully bred colt, by the Group 1-winning stallion Awtaad out of Alternanthera. Awtaad was an outstanding racehorse, winning the 2016 Irish 2000 Guineas and later the Group 2 Boomerang Stakes. Now a proven stallion, Awtaad consistently produces strong, hardy types with a great attitude—traits we certainly see in Wotalaad.

Wotalaad’s dam, Alternanthera, was unraced but boasts excellent credentials as a full sister to Dragon Dancer, the gallant runner-up in the 2006 Epsom Derby. With bloodlines like these, Wotalaad has always looked the part, and he continues to grow into an impressive individual.

Physically, Wotalaad is a giant – standing at 17 hands high. Horses of his stature bring unique strengths and challenges. His long stride, measured at an impressive 24.27 feet, gives him natural ground-covering ability. However, due to his size, he is best suited to softer ground conditions to reduce the risk of injury from firmer surfaces. We’ve taken our time to allow him to develop at his own pace, ensuring he’s both mentally and physically ready for racing.

Beyond his athleticism, Wotalaad has a lovely temperament. He’s a gentle, trustworthy character with a kind eye and a big appetite—his feed bucket is always spotless!

Wotalaad is in training with Seb Spencer in Malton, North Yorkshire. Seb has played a key role in many of our past successes, and his growing operation continues to go from strength to strength. We’re excited to see what the future holds for this promising horse under Seb’s guidance.

If you are purchasing shares for more than one person, please make sure that you create separate orders so that we can transfer the shares individually to the appropriate recipients.

How is my share payment broken down?

The share price is a one off payment of £52.50. There will be nothing extra to pay, no matter what costs are incurred during the syndicate period. The capital cost for Wotalaad including commission, transport and vetting, is £9.20 per share. The capital risk is £2.00 per share. Our current management fee is set at £15 per share. The all-inclusive racing/training cost is set at £10 per share. The cost for mortality insurance is £2 per share. The Cottam Grange Rehabilitation contribution is £3.80 per share. The VAT is £10.50 per share. *All fees based on estimated cost excluding the capital risk. No extra cost will be incurred by the customer.

1- All shares are sold on a first come, first served basis.
2- No additional payments will be requested in relation to the horse during the prescribed syndicate period, regardless of any costs incurred by The Racing Emporium.
3- Race prize money won by the horse or proceeds from the sale of the horse are divided equally in accordance with the number of shares owned.
4- All owners will receive a monthly email keeping them updated on the progress of our horses.
5- All owners will be posted a share certificate within approximately 3-5 days of purchasing a share.
6- Stable visits will be available, which are free for an owner to attend. You can book in via your online account.
7- The Racing Emporium is a Ltd business.
8- Shares can only be registered to an individual aged 18 or over. A share can NOT be registered in the name of more than one individual..

This syndicate lasts until 1st June 2026. At the end of the syndicate period, you can choose to renew for a further term or we will attempt to sell your share for you. There really is no obligation whatsoever after the initial fee. This syndicate is divided into 4000 shares and each share costs £52.50 (including VAT). There will be nothing extra to pay, no matter what costs are incurred during the syndicate period. The syndicate is subject to the usual ‘The Racing Emporium’ terms and conditions. The current maximum number of shares that can be purchased by one person is 10.
